Live Scribing

Add creative and engaging energy to your events.

Capturing dialogue as it happens.

Real-time graphic note-taking of events, webinars, and conference presentations can help your audience quickly connect with complicated information.

Have you ever doodled during a long meeting? That’s because drawing promotes concentration. It has been scientifically proven (by psychologist Jackie Andradeto) to improve the retention of information and optimise the ability to focus. Simplifying and streamlining the delivery of complex data with interesting graphics accelerates its comprehension.

Scribing is an emerging visual practice that can create an atmosphere of creativity and collective problem-solving at events. With a graphic scribe in the room, audience members are aware that something unusual is unfolding. People are amazed at how a speech can be transcribed into visuals right before their eyes. At the same time, they’re actively engaged with the speaker. It’s hard not to be when you can watch invisible words take physical shape.

I think it's the interweaving of text and images that is so powerful. It’s similar to the experience you have when watching the movie version of a great book. The seeing and the hearing of the story are combined which means you can enjoy the impact of the message more powerfully and quickly.

Live visual summaries of your conference or webinar that can be instantly tweeted or shared for maximum engagement.

Graphic recording is a meaningful way to spread the messages of your event to a larger audience.

You'll receive a PDF, Powerpoint, or Google slide deck at the end of the event. Before I leave, we’ll mop up any typos or stray text.

Because I create the files in the Concepts app, they are fully editable and scaleable afterwards. You could make a book, report, or video with the assets. You could also use your new files to freshen up your marketing.

Long story short—you’ll get ongoing value from a single event investment.

Some examples of live scribing (client sessions).

What happens during a live scribe:

I can work on paper or digitally. Digital is my preference because it’s less intrusive and it gives us options. All I need is a desk, an internet connection, and a power outlet.

I’ll sit (or roam) with my iPad and push the graphics to the AV or social media team. If you’d like, we can also stream the drawing as it happens via a document camera over the iPad at a desk.

I’ll support the facilitator by bringing the spoken words to life with illustrations. The audience can follow along on a device or presentation screen.

It’s fun, surprising, and unique. It can turn any message into an experience that is remembered.

Benefits:

  • Engages your participants—includes them in the experience

  • Brings panel discussions and Q&A to life

  • Helps groups stay focused

  • Encourages conversation and collaboration

  • Makes your event accessible

  • Enables information recall

  • Facilitates group decision-making

  • Streamlines how your vision and values are communicated

How many sessions are included?

We’ll coordinate and customize your live scribing plan so it aligns with your needs and budget.

How long does a session last?

An hour. A half day. A full day. We’ll talk about what you need so I can customised your project quote.

Is live scribing always “live?”

I can facilitate the experience in real-time or from a previous recording.

How much does it cost?

This depends on your project. Schedule a call and let’s talk. I’ll create a project scope and quote. If you decide to hire me, you’ll pay a 33% deposit to hold the spot on my calendar. Your balance will be due at the close of the project, prior to the release of the final files. I accept credit card payments.

What happens after an event?

Within 24 hours after your event, I’ll touch up the files (includes correcting typos and/or wording). After that, I’ll request your final project payment (via invoice) and provide your graphics in formats suitable for any marketing need—print or digital.

How do virtual sessions work?

  • Zoom, and most video playforms

  • Over the phone and share a virtual whiteboard

I also offer in-person live scribing.

Is there pre-work?

Yes. I’ll have a briefing meeting with the project lead and/or facilitator to coordinate our efforts. I’ll also require advance check-in to your event so I can do a proper “tech check” prior to the arrival of event participants.

I’m excited to learn about your project.
